okay so my business cards used to have Herz’s face on them from this picture

I just wanted to share that. And also to reblog this because it turned out nice and I’m still proud of it

yeah, hey, so Herz is black now. 

Well, mixed. Mom’s still German, but his dad’s black and now actually went to Germany through the US military and fell for Herz’s mom and then went back to Kansas with her. 

So yeah, now I’m legit content with Herz becoming an English teacher, specifically for 7th graders. He’s got some special ways around having to talk in class without anything to read. If he’s reading, he’s less likely to stutter, see, and he never completely breaks that. To combat that, he gives each of his students a journal and asks them to write down the questions they have, instead of raising their hands. He lectures (with written notes), has them read whatever and comment in their journals about that, then collects them at the end of class. The next day, he gives them back their journals with written answers for them, along with grammatical corrections or comments on their phrasing so they can improve their writing. If someone has a good question, or if a lot of kids have the same question, he addresses it at the beginning of class.

On the first day of school, after everyone has a journal, Herz takes them to the library for that mandatory introduction thing they do every year. Then everyone has to check out a book and then use the computers to find a picture of their favorite book, print it out and paste it to the front of their journals. Herz explains that he wants that book to be important to them personally, and that it can’t be the bible because “it has to be a book written by men” the freaking jesus nerd. Then when they get back, whatever time is left, he wants them to write about why they chose that book. 

and then he collects them and responds because he’s awesome. 

Every time they use a swear, he docks a point off their grade. If they ask about his stutter or scars or mention his race in their journal, he copies a random paragraph from, idk, Ulysses at them.

To clarify, that is, indeed, Leonardo from the Ninja Turtles. It just so happened that while on the boat, he was forced to attend parties that occasionally turned him human. And his human form was hot.
