Things that made me laugh:

>Just letting you know, you’ve continued to mansplain. This, what you’re doing up above, is mansplaining.

Oh okay, except how? He’s disagreeing and that’s it, and frankly, he’s right.

>You don’t have to explain to me the historical situation of women at that time. Or how this story is situated in that time period. You’re explaining to me something that I already know (and know more about experientially and theoretically, than you)

You experienced being oppressed as a woman in the time period this movie is set in?

>WHY IS PIXAR FINALLY MAKING A MOVIE WITH A FEMALE PROTAG …WITH THE CLICHE OF “WOMEN HAVING TO FIGHT FOR CONTROL OVER THEIR LIVES” BECAUSE THAT’S THE ONLY STORY THAT WOMEN GET TO HAVE ABOUT THEMSELVES IF THEY ARE SQUARE PEGS THAT DON’T FIT IN THE ROUND HOLE

I don’t think you truly understand women’s issues if you think women are in the position to try to do what they want without some sort of fight, especially when the woman in question is from the time period and culture the movie is set.

I’d rather the movie tell girls that if they really want something, they are going to have to face other people telling them they can’t do it because they are girls, and yet that shouldn’t stop them.

Not all women are in the position where they can say they want to be/do something and everyone is cool with it.

That’s like being offended that Mulan had to pretend to be a man in order to join the army.

>(Hint: when a woman tells you you’re mansplaining, believe her.)

Do ho ho ho…

No.

I find that on Tumblr when a woman says a man is “mansplaining”, that means she has no actual argument or that he’s right but you would never openly admit that.

I think she calls it “mansplaining” because she’s never had an ex.

I’m gonna deal with both of these with one post.

1. He’s disagreeing with a point that I never made, and when I tried to correct him about what the original post was and how his stuff was irrelevant to the point I was making, continued on. Mansplaining, and I guess I should say gaslighting, too.

2. The centuries of oppression of women (and women of color) continue to affect me now, yes.

3. Hahah, me not understanding women’s issues. I know that I have to fight. I am doing it right now. BUT I WANT SOME GODDAMN ESCAPISM. THAT’S WHAT MEN GET ALL THE TIME. AND I WANT SOME.

4. And don’t bring up Mulan (Disney’s version anyway) because that’s one huge bundle of racist stereotypes and misinformation about ancient Chinese culture and doesn’t help your argument at all. If you’re bringing up the original legend from the ballad, I’d be surprised, but it still doesn’t help. (And I’m not actually offended, so nice attempt at a strawman.)

5. Lol.

6. What’s does a woman’s (perceived) relationship status have to do with anything? Oh wait, sexism.

W-Wings, what.

What did I just read?

Where did that ‘ex’ comment come from? That wasn’t actually meant to make sense, was it? I’m. I don’t.

What?
